The Region

The Prana Lorien is in Santo Antônio do Leite,

part of the municipality of Ouro Preto in the state of Minas Gerais. Located 25 km from Ouro Preto and 90 km from the state capital Belo Horizonte, it’s ideally located between a number of colonial towns on the old gold route. At 1,000 metres altitude, it has a pleasant and healthy climate without extremes of temperature, neither in summer nor winter, which is thought to aid longevity.

It forms part of the Estrada Real – the ‘Royal Route’ – linking colonial towns and villages, which tell the story of the gold-mining era through their architecture, mountains and beautiful waterfalls. Using the Prana Lorien as a starting point, you can visit Ouro Preto and Mariana and villages such as Lavras Novas, São Bartolomeu, Salto and São Gonzalo do Bação – just a few example of places worth visiting within a 30 km radius.
